Bio

Andrea Sperling is a graduate of the LaGuardia High School of the Arts in NYC, where she received classical vocal training. She went on to study theory, guitar, and jazz vocal improvisation at the New School and Lucy Moses schools in Manhattan.

In NYC, Andrea fronted many genres of original bands, including funk band Poetic Noshun, folk/rock group Lost Gringos, and pop/dance project, Big Dream, as well as performing as a solo singer/songwriter. She also toured Europe with the world music ensemble, Komenka.

Andrea fell in love with jazz while living in New Orleans for two years, and decided to make it her musical focus. She returned to New York to form a jazz quartet, which played regularly at esteemed venues such as Metronome and Grove Street Cafe.

Seeking beautiful beaches, warm weather, and a more peaceful lifestyle, Andrea relocated to the West Coast in 2006. She has found wonderful musicians to work with in San Diego, and performs with pianist Jim Guerin, drummer Dan Ochipinti, wind player Dave Mallard, as well as many other acclaimed musicians.

In San Diego, Andrea has performed at a variety of venues such as Bing Crosby’s, Hotel Del Coronado, the U.S. Grant, the Estancia, Mission Bay Hilton, Sheraton Harbor Island, El Prado, Spaghetteria, and the Cosmopolitan Hotel. She has also been featured on Jazz Station KSDS.

Andrea continues to perform regularly around San Diego and Los Angeles.
